Eh... I think I made him too handsome. :iconchibigermanyplz:

Then again, Fascists always have the best military uniforms (in other words, evil always looks so cool), and many girls like myself really like guys that look good. XD

I thought about having a Nazi flag in the background since Hetalia focuses during the time of WW2, but then I'll have to deal with the idiots who always have to piss and whine about that the Swastika/Iron Cross is evil and me being a Nazi.
So here's some thing I'll say up front should people get offended with this pic: I may have a German last name, German ancestry, and look White BUT I don't qualify to be a Nazi/White Supremacist because I'm half Asian. So I don't want to hear anybody telling me and saying that I'm racist Nazi sympathizer because I'm not (what many of them did was evil), WW2 is over (German doesn't equal Nazi anymore), and you people need to educate yourself instead of acting on ignorance (that means look up the origin of the Swastika or Iron Cross on Wikipedia, Encarta, or whatever encyclopedia instead of screaming bloody murder that it's something Nazi).

[I'm glad I got that out]

Just like my recent pics, I used a 4H graphite pencil, watercolors, and watercolor pencils to makes this.

I already made France ( [link] ), I'm currently working on Japan right now, and I plan on making Italy, Austria, Poland, and more.

Feel free to leave your comments and let me know what you think. :D

"I may have a German last name, German ancestry, and look White BUT I don't qualify to be a Nazi/White Supremacist because I'm half Asian."

So other people who have German last names, German ancestry and are white but who are not half Asian DO qualify as Nazis?
:/
This kind of subconscious prejudices makes me sick.

Gah~ that's not what I meant! :rage:
Seriously - does anybody read the whole Comment these days, or rather just skim over less than 20% of it and pick out what catches their eyes and take everything out of context? :X
What I'm trying to say is that if I had the same beliefs as a racist Nazi and tried to join them, I wouldn't be accepted at all because of the fact that I'm half-Asian - thus, there's no point in me in having such beliefs, plus to have such beliefs is like denying my existence and the existence of the Human Race overall.
And even if a person does have all those things to qualify to be a Nazi doesn't automatically make them Nazi - it's the beliefs and actions one does to earn such a title like that.

Did that clear things up, or are you still going to insist that I'm just another prejudice Mofo who has no idea what the F- I'm talking about?
I do take these kind of things seriously because 1. they get on my nerves, and 2. I don't like it when people accuse me of having certain beliefs when I consider them blasphemy, such as Racism and the sorts.

I get that you're not a Nazi. Seriously. You made it clear enough. I'm just trying to sensitize you to your phrasing - because your phrasing, like it or not, d i d imply that those people are more "qualified" to be Nazis. Which is not true. Because there are more Nazis living in the US than in Germany or other German-speaking countries. These kinds of preujudices are extremely deeply rooted. I showed the phrasing to a friend, asking her "Is there anything wrong with this sentence?", and she answered that yeah, it does have a prejudical vibe.

Just trying to sensitize you to your phrasing.

Well, I did base him off a photo of a model, so I guess that's why he's so 'beautiful.' :XD:

Yep, mainly watercolor pencils with a bit of actual watercolors in a palette to enhance the colors a bit. :D
Each watercolor portrait took over half an hour to complete (not including the under sketch - that's another 20-45 minutes), so the key is lots of patience and not rushing on the details.
And yes, a lot of practice will help too (making 40 of these character portraits should do the trick - well, that's what I did :XD: ).

I'm American with Germanic Heritage (I have a little Native American too) on both sides as well and I don't qualify as a Nazi. But, when I first viewed Hetalia, I hated Germany. I saw the swastica and the era the anime was set in and like "Fuck, I'm going to hate this dude so much". I'm now a Germany Fan with a love hate thing for him.

Something about the all Germans are Nazis stereotype though, yes, the war is long since over, but after something like the Holocaust, it's hard to forgive something like that. After the war, though Hitler's reign of terror was over, many people still didn't trust the Germans. Something like that carries over, it's like racism in America.

Yes, I completely understand that it is hard to forgive someone after they had done something so horrible to you.
But that lies the problem - if people learn to forgive, not necessarily forget, and move on and focus on 'now,' a huge burden would be lifted off their shoulders and life would be much more enjoyable.

Also, I know that people don't always match their stereotypes.
I know I don't - in fact, some people think I'm not American at all: I'm not overweight, eat fast-food all the time, or is clueless about World Geography and many other subjects like many Americans are. XD
(I actually had an argument with my classmate in my Freshman year of High School about World Geography once - she said that Dublin was the capital of Germany, but I corrected her by saying that Berlin was actually the capital of Germany, and Dublin is the capital of Ireland; she snapped back saying that I was stupid and don't know anything about Geography, but then I pulled out a world map and that was the end of it XD And the sad part is that this was an Advanced World Geography class!)
I had a German friend, and though he did seem a bit sadistic at times (aside from being Nazis, Germans are often stereotyped to be blunt, sadistic, and egotistic - which can be true sometimes ^^; ), he was actually quite a nice and very intelligent guy (he'd always solve my Calculus and Physics homework problems more efficiently than I do XD ).

But unfortunately the majority of people doesn't have an open mentality like I do, and I think it's quite a pity.
I think people rely too much on the media and don't do enough research/self-education these days, and that leads to ignorance, racism, and too much political correctness (ie. many people actually don't know that the swastika used to be a holy Buddhist and ancient Slavic symbol of life, luck, peace, and prosperity before Hitler defiled it; ever since then, the media only uses it as a symbol of evil, and that's how people only think of it as an evil icon).

Well, there are still people who choose to forget because they just don't want to admit that humanity is flawed. The people who annoy me are the people who try to defend Hitler's actions even though they knew what he tried to accomplish was evil. Or they just deny that anything involving the Nazis in WWII happened.

The thing about your classmate arguing that Dublin was the capital of Germany makes me weep for humanity. Especially since it happened in an advanced class.

That's cool, and it kind of fits the stereotype in APH (maybe not the egotistical part though). I haven't really met other people from other countries unless you count all of the Hispanics that go to my school. I think it would be cool, though, to learn about another culture and override those stereotypes we have. In fact, it makes me wish we had German in our school again. The German teacher was fired a couple of years ago because this girl was being a real biznotch and blaming him for failing his class. I'm taking Japanese this year and, here's what I must say, much of what you see in animes are chocolate coated lies. School girls there do not have short skirted uniforms and do not obsess over anime all the time. If we had a German class, I think all that I knew about the German culture would change.

Also, you just got me something to look up on the swastica. I never knew that, I thought it was just some twisted symbol that Hilter had come up with in contrast to the Iron Cross of WWI. Thank you very much. ^^

Ha, ha, ha... true - there's no denying in what the Nazis did.
And aside from those people who deny that they existed, I also annoyed by those who are so ignorant to the fact that not all Nazis were bad people (there were a handful of Hitler's officers who actually wanted to assassinate him because he was really chewing at their conscience when he had the Jews executed in gas chambers - I think Tom Cruise had starred in a movie based on this story), and not everything they did was bad either (ie. Nazis actually loved art - despite the fact they took artwork and artifacts from museums and private homes, they hid most of them in salt mines where they were protected from being destroyed by Allied Forces' bombs; if it weren't for Nazis, many famous paintings by the masters would of been lost forever - which is something artists should be very grateful for).
It's really a mess when saying what's good and evil because it depends on perspective, but I can clearly say whatever Hitler ordered the Nazis do on his behalf regarding human ethics was overall evil because he was evil.

And yes, humanity is unfortunately deteriorating as the times pass...

I also find it difficult to explain to people my views since most people I've encountered had never experienced being in a different country or encountered people from other countries like I have (my mother's from the Philippines, I was also born there, been to many other states in America, lived in Italy for 3 years, been in Bahrain for 2 days, Hong Kong and Japan for plane stops, and I've been living in California for the past 12 years - and all this stuff happened in my life because my father was in the military), so I often either get alienated and cast aside as a crazy person or someone who knows too much.

And you're very welcome - that makes you one less ignorant person regarding the stigmatized symbol. :D
I actually learned that about the Swastika from reading various encyclopedias and websites (Wikipedia does have a lot of information, but don't trust everything posted up in there 'cause sometimes people have biases and put their opinions in the articles - this is where bookstores and libraries come in XD ).
I've always been a bit curious about it since Middle School, especially seeing it on Buddhist art when all my classmates keep pointing at it as a Nazi symbol - I just knew that there had to be a good reason why it was used if it really was a Nazi symbol, and of course, it's not. XD

Yeah! Valkyrie's the movie you're looking for. Man, I really wanted to see that movie, at least it proves that there were Nazi's that didn't approve of Hitler and his craziness. There was certainly no denying that Hitlers thought process, in itself, was also evil.

Alot of people just instantly slap that lable on America, though. The truth is, humanity is deteriorating no matter where in the world you go. I hate the "Americans are stupid, ignorant, fat people" lable. -.-;

Wow, it looks like you've been just about everywhere! I'm not allowed to leave this country until I'm old enough. T.T

And, yay! I feel so special! ^^

I hate those ultimate anti-nazis they annoy me, personally I have nothing against them (the nazis), but nor do I like them either. but lucky for me that most of the people in my school are idiots and do not now much about WW2, so you can see the Iron Cross on clothing and stuff all over the place, but still there are those people who think anything German=evil, but I know someone who lived in Germany and he's really nice..... and anyway I don't think my school is too racist, because once I actually saw someone drawing the Swastika in their math notebook one time, to see if they could shade it, and another time I saw someone wearing a necklace with the Iron Cross and no one bugged her about it :D (but of course no one knew about it except for me and this one guy in my class who practically worships the German Culture XD) but the school district on the other hand...... they despise the Nazi, I heard that in Elementary school that someone got suspended for drawing some Swastika on a white board, and in the tiny room they stick you in for in-school suspensions it had some swastikas on the ceiling so you know......
but as I said before I am not trying to promote the Nazis here I'm just ranting...... again but personally I think that if you wanted to do it you should and if anyone hates you for it just give them the middle finger to get them to FUCK OFF and if they still annoy you ignore them
hmmmm I should look them up sometime, but I'm afraid what my parents will think (when I forgot which way the Swastika went and I wanted my sister to look it up for me he was giving me the death glare) but just guessing is the swastika a rip off of a Buddhist symbol for good luck? (well you know flipped and rotated a bit :D)

Thank you - I'm glad that you think the same the same way as I do.

I'm getting really tired of giving the lecture about its origin and original meaning, how the Nazis ruined it, and that all symbols are just as susceptible of being defiled and misused (or the reverse, like the sign of the Christian cross - it was a sign of evil, torture, and death, but since Christ died on one, it's now considered holy).

But that's how most people are - ignorant and too lazy to educate themselves; instead, they rely on the media to explain everything to them, whether if it's correct or not.

your welcome I guess, but you should know that I may not think exactly the same way as you do but I guess that in this form: yes

But, personally, I think that you shouldn't become tired of it, because you know the truth, you should tell them about it with enthusiasm, and maybe they will understand what it is and why, but if they still deny you they may wonder why you said it with such detail and enthusiasm and seek why you stand where you do in this world, and maybe, just maybe we will come to a better world not lead by propaganda. Hmmm I never really thought of it like that but you do have a point

you are completely right, my mother is a perfect idol of the human race, only today I wanted to see some stuff on the History channel, but my mom absolutely refused me from watching it because it was on Nazism in America and she pretty much denies history from happening, and has fallen to the propaganda that history is 'boring' as with most of society who are to ignorant to learn the truth and rely on the media to 'learn' what they know when it could just be propaganda

(wow I never have actually had a conversation where the person I'm talking to actually pays attention to what I'm saying XD)

That's why I always say "Comments are wanted as always," or "Let me know what you think via your comments," but most people just Fave and don't say anything; I'm not saying it's a bad thing to do (Faves are great), but I feel comments have more value because it let's me know what people think about my work, and sometimes they let me know what I can do better or keep the same.

Honestly I find most uniformed men very sexy, whether it's police, army, navy, US, German, Japan, whatever. And honestly I find the German uniform from WW2 very sensual on characters. It's just how I feel. I come from a strong german/jewish/polish bloodline, so I know how it is when people see the german name- see that I have blue eyes and the fact that I have blond hair (only for the fact I had blond hair when I was little and I bleach my dirty blond hair now). None the less I find it interesting that most people who bitch about the German swastika/iron cross are not WW2 vets, persecuted personally by Hitler whether their family or not dealt with it first hand, nor do they understand the history of the swastika or iron cross. Further still do they realize that many many men and officers who were a part of the nazi party and Germany(the people) - hated Hitler by the end of the war.

All of that aside though, Germany is a very nice looking gentleman here and I very much like his blue eyes. X3

^^; Well, European men in general are pretty good looking, plus they're not afraid to get in touch with their feminine side a bit - that might explain why they're so attractive. XD
(I've noticed that with my guy friends - the European guys aren't afraid to say something is "cute" while the American guys just say "That's cool" XD ).

Besides the fact that a big ol' swatstika would look weird in my favorites, I wouldn't mind you adding it :p (btw I seem to be in the same boat you are, with the half Asian thing and the white look. lolwut.)

Great picture though, I really like the realistic take. Hetalia's style is a bit too cutesy for me. Can't wait to see more of these (particulary if you're drawing UK or Latvia)

But the only problem is trying to find enough reference pics and photos to use for everyone - the only two characters that can look the same are America and his twin brother Canada. XD
