"Doitsu, Doitsu, help me~ !"
(Maybe that's why he's running - Italy got himself into a tight spot again XD )

And the pistol... that was a pain in the arsch to draw. :X
If you look really carefully at it, you can see it's a 45 caliber and it's named "Deutschblut" (German Blood).

*sigh* I know Nazis aren't supposed to be loved, but why do they always make them look so cute?
(like in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas - the young blond lieutenant is cyuute BUT mean; he also looks a lot like Germany too... yeee... :fear: )

Anyway.... aside from the way Nazis are depicted in the media, this is Germany colored with 3 flags in the background - 2 used during WW2 with the center one the German flag we all know.

I also placed "Deutschland," "Germany" in German
(why we English speakers say "Germany" instead? Part of it is because of Latin [Germania], and probably also because "Deutsch" sounds almost exactly like "Dutch" [hence that's how the "Pennsylvania Dutch" got their name - most Americans can't pronounce "Deutsch" right XD ].

I also have Japan and Italy coming up - then it's back to making my realistic country portraits. XD
But I am planning in making Allies versions, and then a combined version of the Allies and title it "Allies Powers Hetalia" XD
(that means 5 more pics like these... yay... more work for me to do...)

Other than that, please let me know what you think - comments are highly appreciated. :D

Gah~ this is an old pic...
But I'm glad it's still well liked. :)

But seriously, I couldn't help but think of Germany when I saw that Lieutenant in that movie - so cute, but so cruel and mean at the same time :fear: (but then it turns out he was only being mean just because his father left for Switzerland and disliked Hitler's mistreatment of the Jews, and had to act that way so he wouldn't be treated badly by his superior officers; that just made me even more sad). :cries:

*Sigh* :X

Yes I know that Germans are no longer Nazis raising their right arms cheering "Heil Hither," kill Jews, and other inhumane crap.
:shakefist: The Hakenkreuz was placed their for historical and artistic purposes only since the anime/manga series takes place mainly in the 2nd World War.

The Hakenkreuz, or also know as the Swastika, was once a Buddhist/Hindu symbol of peace, luck, and prosperity, a symbol just as holy as the cross Christians use toady (which was actually once a symbol of evil, torture, and death; pretty ironic how a symbol once feared and hated is now considered as one of the most sacred symbols).
Many other cultures had also called a "Fire Cross" to represent the power of the sun and used it in their coat of arms.
But it was misused by the Nazis, and ever since then most people had forgotten the original meaning of the Swastika and think of it as a symbol of eugenics, racism, fascism, and the horrors of the Holocaust.

Just remember that symbols, no matter what thoughts come to mind, always have more than one purpose and meaning; their definitions will always change and be dictated by what the majority people say what they mean at the time being, whether if it's the true original meaning or an inverted one based on how it was used.

yes, i know i know.
plz don't get offended.
it's not like i want to be like "OMG YOU ARE STUPID THAT YOU USE THE HAKENKREUZ JUST LIKE THAT"

it's just... I don't that this stands as a sign for germany.
i mean, sure it's a part of our history and everything. but ludwig is representing germany in some way, so it's a little bit disturbing to see the hakenkreuz everywhere with ludwig fan art.
i mean, in gemrany it's forbidden to use this ssymbol in any way (expect in movies)

sorry, i didn't want to start a fight.

even if you're not like that, i can't stand people using symbols like the hakenkreuz because they want to shock.

No, no...
I wasn't looking for a fight either.

And of course, not all Ludwig fan art has the Hakenkreuz in it - I know mine doesn't XD
(just this one, "Axis Powers Hetalia," and my dA icon)

But isn't that what art suppose to do - catch people's attention, even if it's so shocking and disturbing?

And even though the Hakenkreuz is no longer a symbol used by Germany, it is still a part of your history and you have to face the past whether if it's pretty or not - it's something you can't just sweep under the rug and whistle "Okay, nothing happened - now where were we?"
Whining and moaning about it won't change what happened, but you can accept it and use it to understand current situations.

What the Nazis did in WW2 really did scar German pride, but I actually think you're fortunate to have something horrible in your history to use as a major reason to not do it again in the future.
I know my country of America did a lot of stupid things in the past (and we're still doing stupid things - name a country who hasn't done something stupid XD ), but because of these events, we now have equal voting rights and racial equality - it's something to be proud of.

The only thing that was a pain about this pic was inking it (in fact, all of the pics like this XD ).
I get easily irritated when I do so because it's really tedious work - that's why I prefer not inking at all. XD

I don't have patience with digital art... (Probably why I've been doing so many emoticons OTL Besides the fact that my anime style drawings all fail >_> ) Since when I'm on the computer, I usually just end up reading manga and watching anime...

To join, just watch the club and send a note ^^ :iconludwig-germany-fc:

Haha I know exactly what you mean! I love all the "bad guy" uniforms, so much to the extent that I have my friends slightly scared. ^^; But it's the uniforms I like, not the ideology of the people wearing them. ;)

Anyway, on to the actual comment - I love your style of drawing! The lineart is wonderfully fun and angular, making the drawing very interesting to look at. I love Germany's pose and the detail of his gun! Wow! And the way you colored this is awesome; the background ties it all in very well and I like the gradients in Germany's uniform.

This looks awesome! (And kudos for using "Deutschland" instead of just "Germany"!) Great job!

Exactly. :D
And there were actually quite a bit of Nazis who wanted to Hitler dead because of his radical ideas of encamping and killing Jews were eating at their conscious, so you can't say all evil is purely "evil" - there's always a glimmer of good even in the darkest of evil (if I recall in APH, Germany did mentioned briefly that he had a "crazy" boss - and I'm sure we all know who he's referring to XD ).
Okay, that's enough about bad guys. XD

I'm glad to hear that you like my work - it was really fun to make this because... well, it's just so me. XD
The pose was inspired after reading an old video game magazine article about the Final Fantasy 7 compilation - it had a pic of characters drawn with epic poses, and the lineart was also very bold and angular.
It was a nice break from making so many realistic watercolor portraits of countries depicted in APH (feel free to look at them in my Gallery, if you like :) ), plus I enjoy using Faber-Castell markers and Photoshop Elements to color in and add detail to my work.

Well... I wouldn't say there were "quite a bit" of Nazis that disliked Hitler, but there were definitely more than a handful! ;)

I also like this piece so much because it's historical... I took an entire course this past semester on Nazi Germany, and it was my favorite class without a doubt! :D So I love history, and this drawing definitely brought out my love.

Great work, once again.

Ha, ha, ha... of course. XD
And most of them ironically were trusted by Hitler - it really gives meaning to that saying "keep your friends close but your enemies closer."
(There's just been a lot of Nazi history documentaries lately on TV. Have you seen the one about the stealth fighter plane? The Germans had developed one over 30 years before the US did, and it had some parts on the front actually made of wood to help absorb radar - so awesome, but scary at the same time).

Dude... I wish there was a course like that at my college! :D
There's Military History, but it refers to the history of all the American forces throughout the time since the British arrieved (hadn't taken it, but it'll feel like repeating NJROTC XD ).
If I wasn't a Bio/Art major, History would be a definite 2nd choice. :)

Thanks - I'm always happy to receive comments. :D

Waaaa I would love to be an art major... I love drawing, but I just don't have the time to pursue it in college.

Right now I'm techincally "undecided" for my major, but I'm looking at changing that ASAP to aerospace engineering. :D So I loved the tidbit you included in your comment about the stealth fighter plane - I LOVE planes...!!!

Engineering's cool - not my cup of tea, but I really appreciate the hard work done in the field :)
Because I'm going for a Bio major (specifically into Genetics), I had to take Calculus-based Physics just like those going into the Engineering field, and that class was HARD - I barely squeaked by with a C (I had to ask my German friend for help - he was quite excited when I asked for his help because he's really a genius when it comes to Calculus, Physics, and Computers XD But I hadn't heard anything from him since then...)
But if you're willing to suffer all the hard work and you enjoy doing it, it's well worth it. :D

I hear ya. :D
After repeating Calculus II twice, Calculus was starting to become fun, but I was only required to take the first two levels, so no more Math classes for me... unless I want to do Bioengineering. XD

Ja... Biology's cool, but I still really want to get into Art and become a Graphic Designer/Animator (that's why I'm majoring in both). What be really nice if there was a job that combines the two...
But it's up to you to decide what you ant to do for the rest of your life (I can't seem to get my mother to understand that - she's determined to make me want to become a doctor, nurse, or pharmacist and join the Air Force to pay off college).
