The Final Version.
Originally, I had placed a lot more layers of random brushes on top and considered in using the "Diffused Glow" filter, but I really like it the way it is here (I didn't want to overkill the blood-splattering).
No "Magic Wand" tool was used to color this, just basic brushes in Photoshop and some from angelic-trust.net
Also, I used various blending modes to make the line art a Teal/Prussian Blue color (mainly "Screen" and "Multiply" ).
And no swastika or flags in the background this time
(I think I can hear both "Awws" and "Yays" out there
Historically, Prussia does 'die' - the Nazi Party pretty much decimated the empire by splitting him up into East Germany, parts of Poland, parts of Russia, and various Baltic states near the end of WW2; the last of him is 'gone' when East Germany was united with West Germany after the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989.
So ja... that's one idea how I came up with this pic...
The other idea was the separation of East and West Germany - Prussia has the characteristics of the stereotype of a Eastern German (lazy, drunk, a bit of a hooligan/bum), while Doitsu represent a Western German's stereotype (sophisticated, strict, and smart - ha, ha, ha the 3 S's I like in a guy
[Of course, nobody 100% fits their stereotype. I know I don't - I'm far from being overweight and not knowing where Iraq and Iran are located in a map like over 60% Americans are]
Anyway - other things to point out:
Well, you can definitely see the resemblance between Germany/Ludwig and his older brother Prussia/Gilbert, especially since Germany's hair is down here.
I was debating whether if I should 'comb' back Doitsu's hair, but I decided not to.
Of course I'm not saying that slicked back hair is a bad thing - he looks good either way.
Germany is also wearing the rarely seen green version of his uniform (it's a blue-grey/teal color most of the time in the anime; you can see him wearing the green jacket and pants mainly when he's training).
I also kinda screwed up Prussia's uniform a bit - I forgot to draw a belt, and he wears knee-high boots (Ich bin ein Dummkopf
But I had seen some official pics of him wearing a uniform similar to what I've drawn, plus some SS uniforms were fashioned in a similar way, so it's not too much a big deal (hopefully
Well, feel free to leave a comment - I'm always happy to hear what you think (well, not always
